Herdsmen killings: Protest In Your Churches On Sunday, CAN Presidents Tells Christians

One of the Christian bodies in Nigerian, Christians Association of Nigeria, (CAN) has revealed its plans to mobilize churches Nationwide to embark on a peaceful protest on Sunday against the merciless and incessant killing by suspected herdsmen across the country.Punch reported that the Christian body had sought for support and approval of prominent clerics and Christian leaders across the country to ensure the success of the protest.

Pastor Bayo Oladeji, The Special Assistant (Media and Communications) to the CAN President confirmed all was set for the protest on Sunday.

CAN President, Rev Supo Ayokunle had earlier made a statement to call on Christians across the country to embark on a peaceful protest within their church premises on Sunday, April 29.

He said: “CAN urges Christians in Nigeria to hold peaceful protests on the set-aside date, in the premises of their churches, asking the Federal Government and the security agencies to stop the unending killings and bloodshed in the country.

“Christians are to carry placards with inscriptions meant to address issues about sustained killings, attacks and destruction of their property in Nigeria. The inscriptions on placards could read, ‘Enough of bloodshed in Nigeria,’ ‘Enough of unlawful killings in the country’, ‘FG, release Leah Sharibu from bondage,’ ‘FG, stop herdsmen killings,’ and ‘CAN reject FG’s poor handling of insecurity.’”
