Father of Man Who Attempted to Bomb Winners Chapel Speaks

Father of Nathaniel Samuel, the young man caught with an explosive during a Sunday service of The Living Faith Church Also known as Winners Chapel in Kaduna state has spoken on the controversies trailing his identity.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) and some other Nigerians had called the whole incidence a lie set up by individuals that wish to drag Christians in the mud, most especially after CAN accused the government of not doing enough to tackle insecurity challenges in the country, which, according to them are targeted at Christians.

However, a report by Daily Trust revealed the suspect is indeed Nathaniel Samuel as his father who was identified as Ezekiel Samuel said he has never being a Muslim for once in his life.

Reporters who visited the suspect’s family house at Marabar Demishi, Rido in Chinkun Local government of Kaduna state met with his father who told them Nathaniel is his son.

Mr Ezekiel expressed sadness at the action of is son which could have led to death of innocent worshippers.

Also present during the visitation was the Kaduna state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Reverend Joseph Hayab who said he knows Mr Ezekiel but was unaware the suspect is his son.

When asked if his son is called Mohammed Sani as being speculated in the media, Mr Ezekiel said:

“No! Not even for a single day has he been a Muslim.” Mr Ezekiel also said he was shocked when he was told that his son carried a bomb into a church because he wondered what would have happened to the lives of people in the church.

“If he was alone, I don’t care but for the lives that are in the church, I begin to wonder. I shed tears,” he said.

Speaking with Daily Trust, Reverend Joseph Hayab said CAN is not concerned about the name or religion of the suspect, however, his actions should be looked into.
