An Ondo based Pentecostal pastor identified as Samson Kolawole has been sentenced to death by hanging.
The pastor, who was found guilty of murder was sentenced to death on Friday by a High Court sitting in Akure, the capital of Ondo state.
According to report by Sahara Reporters, Mr Kolawole was found guilty of killing one Mr Ayo Olaniyi at a farm settlement around Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo local government area of the state.
The accused reportedly hacked the deceased with a machete thereby inflicting a head injury which led to his death.
Representatives of the Ondo state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Oluseun Ajeredolu and Mrs Omotola told the court Pastor Samson inflicted a deep cut in the head of the victim when he was on frogs-hunting with three of his friends.
The argued that the offence was contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Laws of Ondo State (2006).
At the end of the trial that lasted for four years, Justice Bola ruled the accused was found guilty according to the evidence before the court. The Judge, therefore, ruled Olaniyi deserves to die by hanging.
